In October 2023, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, and the Xiaomi 14 series was the first to integrate this flagship chipset, achieving a peak clock speed of 3.3GHz. The forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset is slated for release in the final quarter of 2024. Emerging leaks indicate that Xiaomi is set to lead the pack once more, being the first to launch a handset powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. The Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro are poised to be the pioneering devices featuring the new chipset.

Renowned tipster Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) on X (formerly Twitter) asserts that Xiaomi will be the premier brand to unveil phones driven by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. The Chinese tech giant reportedly holds “exclusive first launch rights” for the chipset, positioning the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro as the initial smartphones to emerge with the next-gen mobile platform, according to Brar. Following Xiaomi’s lead, the OnePlus 13 and iQoo 13 are anticipated to be the subsequent models to incorporate the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

The Xiaomi 14 series had the distinction of being the first recipients of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip post its Qualcomm debut last year. The Xiaomi 15 flagship line is also expected to make its first appearance in China prior to a global rollout. Drawing from the Xiaomi 14 series launch, it’s speculated that these handsets might launch shortly after the introduction of this year’s flagship processor.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC is rumored to be crafted using TSMC’s advanced 3nm fabrication process. It may feature a bespoke Oryon CPU and Qualcomm’s cutting-edge FastConnect 7900 connectivity suite. This chipset is also projected to be a key component in other high-end devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 series and the Asus Zenfone 11.

Xiaomi’s 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro made their debut in China in October 2023. In India, the Xiaomi 14 retails at Rs. 69,999 for the 12GB + 512GB model, while the Xiaomi 14 Ultra entered the market at Rs. 99,999.
