Since the Realme GT 6‘s debut, the company has been the center of attention with its latest GT-series smartphones. Taking 2 years to refine its GT series, the company has made a comeback with notable innovations. Having previously reviewed the Realme GT 6T, which boasted competitive features, the company now introduces the Realme GT 6. This new model includes striking features, but does it live up to the excitement?
For a solid two weeks, I used the Realme GT 6 as my primary device, evaluating its performance, camera, multitasking capabilities, and more. The phone closely resembles the Realme GT 6T but introduces significant upgrades that enhance its performance. Dive into the full review to discover more about the Realme GT 6.
Design and Display
Design-wise, the Realme GT 6 shares the same nano mirror design as the GT 6T. It sports a matte metal finish that exudes elegance. I tested the “Fluid Silver” variant, which looks sleek and eye-catching from every angle. As mentioned in my previous review, the Realme GT 6‘s design caters to the style preferences of the younger demographic. The only downside is the back panel’s tendency to collect dust and fingerprints, especially around the mirror-like area. Nonetheless, the Realme GT 6 is robust and well-made.
The display features a 6.78-inch 8T LTPO Pro-XDR screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, full P3 color gamut coverage, and Dolby Vision support. The display delivers sharp visuals and vibrant colors, enhancing the viewing experience. Streaming content on Netflix and Prime Video was a pleasure, thanks to the high-quality display. Realme also offers a peak brightness of up to 6000 nits, ensuring visibility in direct sunlight. Indoors, setting the brightness between 40 to 50 percent is sufficient, as also noted in my Realme GT 6T review.
The 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth, seamless navigation when switching apps or gaming. Overall, the Realme GT 6 offers a satisfying display experience.
Camera
The Realme GT 6 boasts a 50MP triple camera array, with the primary camera featuring the Sony LYT-808 sensor and optical image stabilization. As a device focused on performance, I kept my camera expectations moderate, given the Realme GT 6T’s average camera output. With the GT 6, while the differences are subtle, the main camera captures sharper, clearer images, although the colors are slightly less vibrant than in reality. Daylight photos are good, though not extraordinary. Night mode shots are average, but standard photo mode yields clearer, more vibrant images.
The phone also includes a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and up to 4x additional zoom, capturing satisfactory images. Additionally, the Realme GT 6 features a 32MP front camera that produces natural-looking, high-quality photos.
Performance
This phone runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, which is also found in the Poco F6 and Motorola Edge 50 Ultra. This chip is almost as good as the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, allowing the phone to handle tough tasks and smart features easily. It comes with up to 16GB of advanced RAM and up to 512GB of the latest storage type, ideal for complex tasks and keeping lots of data and apps.
The Realme GT 6 focuses on strong performance, so everyday tasks are a breeze. It’s quick at juggling many tasks at once. Playing games with high-end graphics is a blast on this phone. I tried out Genshin Impact, BGMI, and Call of Duty at full graphics without any issues. Gamers will also like the high resolution in Genshin Impact. The phone stays reliable even after long gaming sessions. It does get a bit warm after a while, but that could also be due to Delhi’s hot and humid weather.
To keep the phone cool and running smoothly, Realme has put in a special cooling system. There’s also a “GT mode” that boosts gaming performance. In my view, the Realme GT 6 scores well on performance.
An extra feature is the Next AI with GT 6, which is simple but not too powerful. It includes a tool to erase unwanted things from photos and enhances night pictures, which we talk about in the camera section. There’s also a feature that lets you move objects to other apps easily.
Battery
The Realme GT 6 has a two-part battery adding up to 5500mAh. It lasts more than a day with normal use, and 7 to 8 hours with intense use like gaming and streaming, which is notable for a mid-range phone. It supports a fast 120W charger that fully charges the phone in just 35 minutes.
Verdict
The Realme GT 6 ticks all the right boxes, with strong performance, an excellent screen, long battery life, and good camera quality that meets all needs. I did hope for more AI features, but with the newest chip, the company might add more in future updates.
If you want a stylish phone that delivers on performance and meets all criteria in its price range, the Realme GT 6 is a standout choice for phones under Rs. 40,000.
