The Google Pixel 8a’s leaked specifications, which align with earlier rumors, suggest a release date of May 14. Android Headlines has confirmed these details by revealing the complete specifications of the device.
The Google Pixel 8a is set to feature the Tensor G3 chip and a 6.1-inch FullHD+ OLED screen shielded by Gorilla Glass 3. Notably, the display’s refresh rate and maximum brightness have been enhanced to 120Hz and 2,000 nits, up from the Pixel 7a’s specifications.
Battery capacity sees an improvement, with the Pixel 8a housing a 4,492 mAh unit, potentially rounded up to 4,500 mAh in marketing materials. It is reported that Google will tout the device’s battery life to last beyond 24 hours, or up to 72 hours with Extreme Battery Saver mode activated. Additionally, the phone will include support for Qi wireless charging.
Contrary to earlier reports that promised seven years of security updates for the Pixel 8a, new sources indicate the device will receive not only security updates but also OS upgrades and feature drops for the same duration.
The camera setup on the Pixel 8a mirrors that of the Pixel 7a, featuring a 64MP main sensor with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 13MP front-facing camera. New camera functionalities such as Magic Editor, Best Take, and Ultra HDR will be introduced, alongside existing features like Night Sight, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Portrait Light, Portrait Mode, and Audio Magic Eraser.
In terms of color options, the Pixel 8a will come in Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, and Aloe—a shade previously speculated to be named Mint. Storage variants will include 128GB and 256GB models, priced at $499 and $559, respectively.
