iQOO has confirmed the launch of a new smartphone in India on May 16. The company will unveil the iQOO Z9X 5G, which will succeed the iQOO Z9 5G that was launched in March this year. Ahead of the launch, the company has started to drip feed information about the phone and has been teasing the iQOO Z9X 5G to feature a big battery with a “Full Day Fully Loaded” tagline. In the hoard of teasers that the company is sharing, it has also revealed the chipset, charging, design, and battery details of the smartphone.

iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO Z9X 5G will be fuelled by a big 6,000mAh battery, and will come with support for 44W FlashCharge. The company claims that with the fast charging technology, with a 30-minute charge, the smartphone will be able to offer a 10-hour battery life. The company has also revealed that the smartphone will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset.

iQOO has also been teasing the design of the smartphone, which will apparently stand out from its competition. The company says it will feature an ultra slim design and will have a thickness of just 7.99mm. This year, iQOO has really been focussing on the design of its smartphones. The iQOO Neo 9 Pro 5G (review), which launched earlier this year, was also a pretty thin device despite its 5,160mAh battery. The iQOO Neo 9 Pro 5G had a thickness of 8.34mm. It will be interesting to see how the company manages to fit a 6,000mAh battery in a sub-8mm device.

Promotional images of the iQOO Z9X 5G also confirm that the smartphone will feature a dual-camera setup. The design is slightly similar to the iQOO Z9 5G, except the camera housing on the Z9 was black, and the one on the Z9X 5G is the same shade as the device. The company has also confirmed that the smartphone will be available in two colour options –– Tornado Green and Storm Grey.

The iQOO Z9X 5G has also been listed on the Amazon India website, which means that it will be exclusively sold online via the e-commerce platform.

More details about the iQOO Z9X 5G are yet to be revealed, but for context, we can look at the specifications of the iQOO Z9 5G. The smartphone is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset and runs on the Android 14 operating system. Its display showcases a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and DT-Star 2 Plus Glass protection. The device features dual rear cameras, comprising a 50-megapixel primary Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS and a 2-megapixel sensor. It offers various photography modes, such as Night mode and Supermoon. For selfies, it provides a 16-megapixel front camera. The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 44W fast charging capability and boasts IP54 splash resistance.
